Impressively fresh aromas of red cherries and cherry pie with a stony and leafy edge, hints of chalk and raspberry compote. The nose is very expressive with some more cryptic flashes. The palate has the same dichotomy with such plush, ripe red cherries to start out with. It has a supple, succulent feel with a sense of levity in this warmer vintage. Then, the velvety mid palate builds to a firm, commanding yet fine finish, reminding us where we really are. Power with purpose here. Best from 2023. (James Suckling)

Glistening ruby-red. An expansive, complex bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits, candied lavender and succulent herbs, along with an overlay of exotic spices. Sappy, penetrating boysenberry, raspberry, cherry cola, spicecake and mocha flavors deepen through the midpalate with no loss of energy. Finely wrought tannins add gentle grip to an impressively long, smooth finish that leaves resonating cherry and floral notes behind. 40% new French oak. (Josh Raynolds)

A youthful magenta hue, the 2022 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard takes on notes of grenadine, pine needles, sage, and pressed wildflowers. Medium-bodied, it has a more compact structure, with ripe, coiled tannins, a mouthwatering feel, fresh acidity, good length, and a light toast finish. This needs time in the cellar and will be best in another couple years, but it’s quite intense and saturates the palate. Drink 2025–2036. (Audrey Frick)

Graceful and silky, but with a well-structured backbone. Offers raspberry and Satsuma plum flavors framed by savory tea and fresh violet tones as this builds toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2032. 430 cases made.

The first bottle was lightly corked, which dampened the fruit and attenuated the finish. The second bottle was fine, with a mix of mulberry, blueberry and plum, along with ample backing acidity. Aged in 40% new French oak, it’s likely to benefit from a couple more years of cellaring. (Paul Gregutt)

Stone dust and crushed chalk give way to wild blueberries and hints of spice as the 2022 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard blossoms in the glass. Cool-toned and racy in feel, it sweeps across the palate with an elegant wave of ripe red and blue fruits, motivated by juicy acidity. The 2022 takes on a spicy character through the medium-length finish, leaving a framework of edgy tannins and notes of licorice to linger.
