Maraska Maraska Pelinkovac NV 750ml

A digestif meant to be served neat. Shows an ochre/deep amber color; excellent purity. I keep hoping that I'll detect more herbaceousness in the first nosing of this ancient herbal bitter, all I seem to encounter though are drifting, unfocused, light scents of dry stone, minerals, limestone/chalk; after another ten minutes of aeration, the bouquet turns slightly herbal, offering ethereal fragrances of dried leaves, diatomaceous earth, caraway seed, poppy seed. The entry is astringent, deeply leafy, herbal, earthy, bitter; midpalate adds traces of black peppercorn, mace, sarsaparilla, root beer, grain husk, brown rice. Lots going on in the flavor profile that isn't detected in the bouquet.
