About This Wine
Tasting Notes
Pale ruby-garnet in color with fragrant aromas of tart red cherry, wild raspberry, crushed rose petals, forest floor, and savory herbal undertones. The palate is elegant, transparent, and focused, combining energetic red fruit flavors with fine, chalky tannins, bright line-driven acidity, and a long, earthy, mineral-accented finish.
Producer Notes
Founded by winemaker Evan Martin in 2009, Martin Woods is an artisanal winery nestled in the oak-forested foothills of Oregon's Coast Range in the McMinnville AVA. Martin focuses on small-lot, minimalist winemaking aimed at expressing the singular voice and terroir of exceptional Willamette Valley vineyards. His ethos emphasizes quiet power, textural balance, patient elevage, and the judicious use of locally sourced Oregon oak barrels to complement rather than dominate the purity of the fruit.
Food Pairings
Critical Acclaim
Rich ruby-colored but transparent, the 2022 Pinot Noir Jessie James Vineyard is beautiful in the glass, with a floral and ripe perfume offering notes of framboise, light herbal notes, wild fresh herbs, and a touch of dark black fruit coming through, with black raspberries and dark stones. On the palate, it has a rich tannin structure, a ton of clarity (as all of Evan’s wines tend to express), and a long finish. It’s going to benefit from more time. Drink 2026-2046. (Audrey Frick)
