Beautiful purplish red hue with dark fruits, soft oak notes, saddle leather, and minerally aromas of metamorphic rock, with a nice umami salinity. Lots of flavors but all in balance like Chinese cooking, sweet, sour, spicy, bitter. The palate echoes the aromatics almost to a T, with sweet dark berries and cherries, leather, black pepper, umami soy, and nice acidity ending in moderate tannins and a pleasant finish. This certainly over delivers for the price! Pizzas, baked pasta, Italian salame and aged hard cheeses would be great matches here!
