Montes Montes Folly 2019 750ml

A ripe and brooding syrah, showing good depth of blackberries, ripe dark cherries and violets, together with a refined, spicy edge and some savory, balsamic character. Concentrated and rich, but still well-drinkable. Full-bodied palate, saturated with dusty tannins that seamlessly knit the palate, rendering a broad but cohesive mouth-feel. Lots of hedonistic pleasures here, but not over the top. A “winter wine” according to Montes. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)

This bold red has a garrigue and fresh nutmeg cast, with a potent core of blueberry and blackberry. Picks up spiced pastry and rich milk chocolate notes on the finish, which linger around suave tannins. Drink now through 2030. 3,000 cases made, 250 cases imported. (Aaron Romano)

This starts with a spicy nose that features hints of aniseed, cinnamon and cassis. It has depth and silky tannins. The wine’s balanced mouthfeel shows flavors of mulberry, plum, and oak spices and notes of Mediterranean herbs that end in a long finish. (Jesica Vargas)
