Critical Acclaim

JS 93 James Suckling 2021 vintage

A burly, full-bodied wine overflowing with dried fruit flavors. Made from grapes from the Louis M. Martini Monte Rosso vineyard and dosed with 5% petite sirah. Moderate tannins and a surprising dash of good fruit acidity keep it lively while being super-ripe and rather high in alcohol. Dried grapes, dried plums, blackberries and hints of black pepper and orange oil. Drink or hold.

RP 92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2021 vintage

The 2021 Zinfandel Rattlesnake contains 6% Petite Sirah and was matured for 14 months in 30% new French and American oak. It has open, inviting aromas of red and black cherries and plums, charcuterie, cardamom and star anise. The full-bodied palate is velvety and refreshing with layered, perfumed flavors, integrated oak spices and a long finish. 4,406 cases produced.

SP 91 Wine Spectator 2020 vintage August 31, 2023

A gutsy red that retains a sense of finesse, with deeply structured blackberry, licorice and black pepper flavors that build toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2030. 5,783 cases made. (Tim Fish)

SP 89 Wine Spectator 2021 vintage April 2024

A big bruiser of a red, offering concentrated blackberry and cherry flavors, with savory anise and smoked pepper flavors. Finishes with a bit of tannin. Best after 2024. 4,406 cases made.
