The 2019 Babone is attractive and succulent. Black cherry, mocha, licorice, grilled herbs and leather are nicely pushed forward in this soft, easygoing wine. Delicious.<br/><br/>Blend: Merlot, Sangiovese, Syrah<br/><br/>Drinking Window: 2024-2034

Aromas of smoke, ripe fruit and spices follow through to a full body, round and velvety tannins and a juicy finish. Lots going on. A blend of sangiovese and syrah. Drink or hold.

Aromas of vanilla, black cherry and pomegranate come first, followed by hot tar, crushed rock and herbs. Cherries, berries and blood orange headline the palate, before chalky, grippy tannins usher in a hot, peppery finish.

A symphony of classic Tuscan flavors on the nose—from balsamic and fennel to gravel to cherries and orange peel—play into more cherries and orange but even more powerful herbaceous notes, with old leather adding a rich final undertone. Lovely drinking from a small independent producer, and especially impressive at this price point.
