Critical Acclaim

WE 97 Wine Enthusiast 2021 vintage

So silky but also so potent and concentrated, this luxurious wine is drenched in black fruits, oak spices, cocoa and mint that come up in the aroma and expand beautifully on the palate while the texture remains elegant and seductive. The wine is remarkable more for its finesse than its power.

RP 96 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2023 vintage Oct 2, 2025

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon John C. Sullenger Vineyard comes from a site just south of To Kalon. Loaded with black cherries and ripe fruit, this full-bodied wine is rich, voluptuous and silky on the outside, but underneath that flesh, there's a firm structure and dusty tannins that linger easily on the elegant finish. This is a real beauty from the western side of Oakville.

JD 95 Jeb Dunnuck 2021 vintage 12/26/2023

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon John C. Sullenger comes from a site in Oakville and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in 55% new French oak. This deep purple-hued effort offers a textbook Oakville perfume of ripe black fruits, iron, smoked tobacco, and graphite. This carries to a powerful, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with a broad, expansive mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a gorgeous finish. It’s an impressive effort, if not the finest vintage of this cuvée I’ve tasted. Enjoy bottles over the coming 15 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Another Oakville beauty, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon John C. Sullenger Vineyard sports an inky purple hue and gorgeous aromatics of cassis, currants, iron, leafy tobacco, and violets. It's medium to full-bodied, tight and focused on the palate, with building tannins, the fresher, structured style of the vintage, and outstanding length. It's tight and reserved at the moment, so hide bottles for 3-4 years if you can. It's another brilliant wine I'd love to have in the cellar, and it will see its 20th birthday in fine form. Drink 2028-2045.

JS 95 James Suckling 2021 vintage

The polish and roundness in texture is impressive in this young barrel sample, and then there are plenty of red currants, together with tile, fresh herbs and spices. Fine, chewy tannins and a long finish. This can age really well, but will give pleasure after bottling. 60 bottles.

SP 93 Wine Spectator 2021 vintage March 13, 2024

This red is nicely packed with black currant, boysenberry and mulberry fruit flavors that drive along steadily, with flashes of singed anise, violet and apple wood filling in on the finish. Emphasizes the fruit, but maintains a pure and detailed feel. Best from 2025 through 2036. 1,800 cases made. (James Molesworth)
