About This Wine

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby-red in color. The nose is aromatic and expressive, bursting with notes of wild strawberries, sliced oranges, crushed red cherries, and hints of cardamom, white pepper, and smoky wild flowers. On the palate, it is light-to-medium-bodied, vibrant, and juicy, driven by lively acidity and a silky-textured mineral spine that balances cherry candy and hibiscus flavors. It finishes clean, refreshing, and focused with a subtle savory, salty undercurrent and fine dusty tannins.

Critical Acclaim

SP 93 Wine Spectator 2023 vintage January 19, 2026

This elegant red is structured by refined, chalky tannins that are enmeshed in a swath of finely woven flavors, including warmed cherry and raspberry fruit, cinnamon, anise, sweet paprika, dried thyme and iron. Long and fluid, with a fragrant, mouthwatering finish that goes on and on. Drink now through 2038. 1,600 cases imported.

VN 93 Vinous 2024 vintage September 2026

The 2024 Il Frappato is radiant in the glass as dusty sage and wet stone collide with blackberries and citrus. It's round in feel with crisp minerality and violet florals that resonate atop a saturation of spice. Gently tannic yet incredibly fresh, the 2024 finishes long and potent. On its own or with a meal, the Il Frappato is a total success.
