About This Wine
Tasting Notes
Translucent garnet ruby with subtle orange rim highlights. The bouquet delivers vivid notes of tart red cherry, cassis, rose tea, pressed violet, and blood orange, backed by earthy undertones of graphite, iron, and pencil shavings. Full-bodied and vertical on the palate, combining crunchy red fruit weight with vibrant, mouthwatering acidity and firm, chalky tannins that resolve into a long, peppery, and saline mineral finish.
Food Pairings
Critical Acclaim
The Paitin 2021 Barbaresco Serraboella has cherry and bright fruit at the top, with spiced cherry, cooked cranberry and orange peel with clove. There is a very fresh botanical feel to this wine with spice and earth, and some distant dried flowers as well. It has a low-key and elegant mouthfeel that stays with you over the long haul.
A velvety and delicious Barbaresco with chocolate, coffee and blackberry aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied with layers of ripe tannins and a long and juicy finish. Reserved at the finish. This needs time to open. Better after 2024. (James Suckling)
The 2021 Barbaresco Serraboella shows all the muscle and power of this site in its dark red-toned fruit and incisive tannins. A virile, powerful Barbaresco, the 2021 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. It's a gorgeous young Barbaresco that marries power and finesse in grand style. This is a fabulous showing for a wine that was bottled a day before my visit.

With 15,493 bottles produced with fruit selected across this celebrated MGA, the Paitin 2019 Barbaresco Serraboella reaches a perfect pitch between fruit ripeness and acidity. This exacting balance is a hallmark of the vintage. The house style, on the other hand, is focused on elegance, so you really get quite a beautiful drinking experience with this bottle. Red and purple fruits segue to wild rose and red licorice.
A streak of wet earth underlines the cherry, plum and menthol flavors in this dense red. Fluid and well-balanced, with firm yet refined tannins lining the finish. An appealing mix of fruity and savory. Best from 2028 through 2045. 1,167 cases made, 300 cases imported.
Floral aromas lead the way on this classic Barbaresco as compact notes of candied cherries, sweet spices, and aromatic woods roll out of the glass. Firm and taut, the wine showcases the interplay of youthful, buoyant red berry fruits alongside savory nuances. A gem to be savored from 2026 onward.
