Critical Acclaim

JD 97 Jeb Dunnuck 2021 vintage 2/20/2024

The first vintage where they've pulled out younger vines with the goal of elevating the quality, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch is based on 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and equal doses of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. It has a stunning nose of pure cassis, graphite, crushed stone, darker chocolate, and baking spices. This carries to a full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, yet polished Cabernet Sauvignon with incredible tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. There are a scant 300 cases made, and this is clearly one of the great values out there in truly great Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. (Jeb Dunnuck)

VN 96 Vinous 2021 vintage Dec 2023

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch is superb. Bright acids and veins of tannin drive through this potent, brilliant Cabernet Sauvignon. This is classic Oakville Ranch in its vibrancy and youthful intensity and is a bit riper than the Allen Price. Production is down 40% from most previous years. (Antonio Galloni)

VN 95 Vinous 2019 vintage

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch is a stunning wine. Dark, virile and imposing, the 2019 packs so much energy and complexity into its mid-weight frame. Generous dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot add layers of dimension. The 2019 is hugely promising. I can’t wait to taste it from bottle next year.

JD 95 Jeb Dunnuck 2021 vintage

The inky purple/blue-tinged 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch Vineyard is more focused and tight, with pure aromatics of blue fruits, chocolate, graphite, and iron. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it shows the structured, concentrated, age-worthy style of the vintage and is a seriously good wine in the making. It’s going to demand bottle age, however.

JD 94 Jeb Dunnuck 2019 vintage 12/21/2021

I loved all these latest releases from Patria. Starting with the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch, which might be the best Napa Cabernet under $100, it has terrific red and black fruits as well as notes of crushed stone, herbes de Provence, spice, and violets. Rich, medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and already impossible to resist, it’s ideal for drinking any time over the coming 15 years or so. (Jeb Dunnuck)

RP 94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2019 vintage Oct 29, 2021

Composed of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2019 Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is jumping with exuberant scent of crushed blackberries, warm cassis and redcurrant jelly, plus hints of roses, wild sage and tilled soil. The medium to full-bodied palate has fantastic tension and finely grained tannins supporting the multi-layered black and red fruit flavors, finishing beautifully perfumed. 600 cases were made. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)

VN 94 Vinous 2021 vintage

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch is bright and energetic, as wines from this site tend to be. Dark red/purplish fruit, mocha, dried herbs and wild flowers abound. The 2021 captures all the energy of this ranch in its huge fruit and potent, searing tannins. All this embryonic Cabernet needs time to come together.
