Domaine Philippe Viet Philippe Viet Haute-Ronze Mosaique Regnie 2020 750ml

The 2020 Regnie Mosaique comes from 50 year old hand-picked vines, 100% whole bunches, and is vinified without sulphites in 30% stainless steel vat and 70% sandstone amphoras. It has a stunning bouquet with pure raspberry and wild strawberry scents, hints of rose petal and crushed stone. The palate is extremely well-balanced with a perfect line of acidity, very focused and complex with just the right amount of pepperiness on the finish. This is about as good a Regnie as you can find. This is on the broader side but finely textured and with a fresh bead of acidity. Raspberry, plum skin, and floral pastille flavors build on the midpalate while licorice accents add some sneaky spice and fine bitterness to a finish of impressive length - very fine. Bottle really opened its stride after (1.5) hours, there’s structure and stuffing for the future I think. Good for Beujolais fans and Sonoma Pinot Converts alike.
