First rated in 1991; last reviewed in 2009 and rated Four Stars each time. Eye-catching topaz/burnished orange color; superb purity. Opening whiffs detect winter holiday spice cake attributres that feature pleasing fragrances of dried apricot, cake batter, cinnamon, allspice, candied nuts; second stage nosings echo the fist stage to a tee. Entry is medium-rich, nutty, oily, and raisiny/ plummy ripe; midpalate focuses on plums/ prunes and a maple-like underpinning flavor that is delicious. Ends on sturdy notes of dark caramel sweet; candied orange. Still a lovely, sophisticated example of Grande Champagne complexity. Four Star territory all the way.
