The 2023 Chianti Clássico is a very pretty wine. Dark red cherry, leather, lavender, spice and dried herbs all meld together in an open-knit, mid-weight wine that has so much to offer. Pliant and inviting, with tons of nuance, the Chianti Clássico is an absolute delight in 2023. It was aged mostly cask, with some cement.

The nose shakes salt and pepper over tart cherries, wild strawberries and blood orange, while the palate is defined by earthiness intensified by ferocious tannins and acid over the tart and sweet fruit.

This is rich and laced with black cherry, blackberry and earth flavors, plus a hint of wild rosemary. Dense, with a compact finish today. Should stretch out with short-term aging. Best from 2026 through 2036. 4,000 cases made, 1,800 cases imported.
