Aromas of pencil shavings, violets, olives and blue fruit here with a smooth-honed palate that has impressively detailed tannin structure, powder-fine texture and fresh red and dark cherries to close.

The 2018 Red Blend Bravado is a blend of 40% Syrah, 36% Carignan, 14% Grerache, 9% Petit Verdor and 1% Mourvèdre, all from Itata, and spent 18 months in neutral barrels. Purple in color. The nose delivers notes of blackberry and raspberry with hints of cherry, herbs and orange petit-fours. Relaxed and juicy in the mouth, the tannins are fine and grippy. A long-lasting wine that lives up to the sum of its parts, which is saying a lot.<br/><br/>

The 2018 Bravado goes back to a more classical blend that is dominated by Syrah, complemented with 36% Carignan, 14% Grenache, 9% Petit Verdot and 1% Mourvedre in a cooler year than the 2017 I tasted next to this 2018. Despite the cooler year, it feels rounder and has more volume, and the nose reveals some notes of tempera paint, licorice and an earthy note that makes me think of graphite. The palate is full-bodied with abundant dusty tannins. 23,952 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2019.
