Critical Acclaim

RP 97 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2018 vintage

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Annum is pure and expressive this year. Blended with 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, it has a beautiful perfume of cassis, mint chocolate, dried thyme and lavender with hints of mushroom and tobacco just beginning to emerge. The palate is plush and velvety with an expansive core of floral fruit and bright, balancing acidity that gives it a weightless feel. It could use another 3–5+ years in bottle.

JD 96 Jeb Dunnuck 2018 vintage 7/21/2023

Nearly black and made from 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, and a small dash of Petit Verdot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Annum brings forward a more lifted profile, with menthol, tobacco leaf, kirsch, and spice box notes. Full-bodied, with more lift and a bright, angular texture, it has earthy grip, fresh lift, and a good balance of fruit and earth. This needs some time, so give it a few years and drink 2026–2046. (Audrey Frick)

JD 96 Jeb Dunnuck 2019 vintage

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Annum is a youthful red color and takes things to the next level, with well-layered notes of pencil shavings, cassis, lavender, and sweet tobacco. This one is all about the aromatics, but it’s full-bodied, plush, and weightless, floating on the palate with a completely approachable feel that’s hard to resist now. Drink 2025-2045.

SP 93 Wine Spectator 2018 vintage November 15, 2023

A plush, fleshy style, with a bittersweet cocoa powder edge around a core of blackberry and black cherry reduction. Reveals black licorice, roasted alder and bay leaf accents that fill in throughout, with a nice tug of earth through the finish. Best from 2024 through 2036. 335 cases made. (James Molesworth)

RP 93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2019 vintage

Blended with 12% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Annum has pure, detailed aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, mint chocolate and pencil shavings. The full-bodied palate pairs transparent, understated flavors with polished tannins and bright acidity, and it has a long, perfumed finish. It will benefit from several years in the cellar. 588 cases were made.

SP 92 Wine Spectator 2019 vintage

A focused version, offering a mix of gently mulled loganberry, blackberry and black cherry fruit scored with worn cedar and sweet tobacco, plus a hint of loam. Shows a slightly taut feel through the finish, giving this an echo of old school. Best from 2025 through 2037. 588 cases made.
