Local Wine and Spirits Ransom Old Tom Gin NV 750ml

Last reviewed in 2010; Batch 13 was rated four stars. Pale gold color; unblemished clarity. I get pleasant notes upfront of juniper/pine, cigar box, new leather, wet sand, cardamom, apple peel; later inhalations detect dried herbs (sage, thyme), dried cranberry, dried pineapple. Entry is acutely citrusy/tropical fruit-like, refreshingly acidity, cleansing, substantial, grainy; midpalate shows off more of the botanicals and dried herbs, plus there's a background note of peppermint that's beguiling. Best batch yet.
