Critical Acclaim
The 2023 Chianti Classico, composed of 92% Sangiovese with the balance Canaiolo and Colorino, offers a generous yet focused aromatic profile of black cherry, leather, smoky incense, and savory herbs. Medium-bodied, it is structured and mouthwatering, with ripe tannins, iron-tinged minerality, and refreshing acidity. A well-balanced expression that combines ripe fruit with savory depth, it can be easily enjoyed another decade or more if stored well.
The 2023 Chianti Classico is fabulous. Rich and layered in the glass, the 2023 impresses with its purity and exceptional balance. Strong spice, leather and tobacco notes run through a core of red Sangiovese fruit. All the elements are so well balanced. Dollops of Canaiolo and Colorino are so well put together. This is a sublime wine. Truly exceptional.
Plums, spices, mushrooms and dried herbs on the nose. It’s full-bodied with fine tannins. Juicy and textured with tangy acidity and spicy character. Flavorful finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.
The 2020 Chianti Classico is striking. Bright, punchy and vibrant, the 2020 possesses terrific energy from start to finish. Sweet red-fleshed fruit, cedar, blood orange, spice and incense are front and center. The 2020 screams with character. Once again, Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi has crafted an exceptional Chianti Classico that punches well above its weight. (Antonio Galloni)
The 2020 Chianti Classico is ripe with juicy red and black berry fruit, offering notes of candied black raspberry, crushed violet, and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied and savory, with tart black cherry, orange oil, fine tannins, and dusty earth, it has a driving persistent energy through the mid-palate and is harmonious in its balance between its more youthful primary fruit and light savory touch throughout. Drink 2023–2033. (Audrey Frick)
This is bright with cherry, raspberry, iron and earth flavors, with tangy acidity and light-grained tannins. Balanced and firm, this ends with sour cherry and thyme accents. Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino. Drink now through 2028. 5,500 cases made, 1,800 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
