Critical Acclaim
The warm and fruity scent is reminiscent of fresh apples drizzled with caramel. On the palate, spicy cinnamon leads, softening to caramel midpalate and finishing with sizzling cinnamon, clove and cayenne pepper. Adjusted with water, a saline note emerges, creating a pleasing salted caramel-like sipper.
Still can’t believe the price tag on this wonderful straight rye from the father-son distilling team of Jimmy and Eddie Russell at wild Turkey. The color alone is worth the retail price. In the nose this whiskey is vivid, mildly sweet and loaded with baking slices. The flavor profile upholds and adds to all the promise found in the aroma. One of the best bargains in the world of whiskey.
A six-year aged whiskey produced by Jimmy Russell at Wild Turkey. An ideal starter rye, it’s smooth and easy with a touch of vanilla and is a close relative to many of Jimmy’s bourbon blends.

A little more age smoothes out this Wild Turkey bottling, putting some lusciousness under the rye zing. Great sipper
It is definitely better than some other “six-year” ryes I’ve had — it is a very rich whiskey for having only the six-year age statement. The nose has delicious aromas of honey, dried figs and star anise. The palate is much earthier though: tobacco and leather, with hints of peanut and figs. Jimmy Russell knows how to make a good rye and this whiskey is a fine example of a rich and complex one — for not a ton of money either.
