A slightly more transparent red-orange hue, the 2021 Barolo Cannubi is savory and floral with notes of fresh leather, baked cranberries, white pepper, sweet spice, hazelnut, roses, and mint. Medium-bodied, it’s the more approachable wine at this stage compared with the Liste, although it’s still structured and fresh on the palate. Drink 2026-2040.

The 2021 Barolo Cannubi captures all the classicism of this site in its delineated aromatics, silky tannins and mid-weight structure. Gracious and light on its feet, the 2021 is charming and easy to like. That said, I did expect a bit more, given the pedigree of the year. Sweet dried cherry, dried herbs, cedar and pipe tobacco lift the mid-palate and finish.
