Critical Acclaim

JS 97 James Suckling 2018 vintage Thursday, February 1, 2024

This structured and concentrated wine is spot on for the vintage. It’s very dense in color and aroma, saturated with ultra dark chocolate, graphite and blueberries on a firm texture of taut tannins that will need time to evolve. Aged in 85 to 90 percent new American oak barrels, the wine should be approachable by 2028 and best from 2033. (James Suckling)

JS 95 James Suckling 2020 vintage

A super creamy, delicious and detailed red with oodles of red fruit, silky tannins and a full body. It tastes pure, fresh, almost delicate, offering raspberries, cherry cream, blueberries, cafe au lait and subtle oak toast on the palate. A gentle, layered, pretty wine that seems not at all affected by the wildfire smoke that year. Drinkable now, but best from 2030.

JS 95 James Suckling 2019 vintage

So elegant, supple and silky, this vintage is a dream to drink now, but should also have plenty of life ahead of it. Aromas of blueberries and dark chocolate meld with luxe black fruit, mint and cocoa on the palate. A blend of 77% cabernet sauvignon, 18% merlot and dashes of cabernet franc and petit verdot. Drink or hold through at least 2030.

SP 88 Wine Spectator 2020 vintage September 2025

This offers an up-front core of red and black cherry compote notes laced with warm earth, chestnut and tobacco leaf. Shows a touch of cedary grain on the finish. Drink now through 2030.
