The very pretty color is brick red/cardinal; purity is fine and without sediment issues. Opening whiffs are confronted with feral aromas of dried orange peel, cardamom, cigar box, cedar/pine, Chinese herbs, and a woodsy rootiness that brings to mind Asian cuisine; further air contact serves to bolster the intense foresty/rootiness that now is the dominant aromatic feature. Entry is clean with a monster bitterness that is totally derived from the root botanicals(St. George Spirits website says gentian root) but I also pick up aniseed and tree bark qualities. Finishes long, tangy, slightly citrusy , clean and begging for a slice of orange. America's elegant answer to Italy's Campari.
