The deep purple-black colored 2016 Nomad Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane is a little youthfully subdued to begin, opening out to reveal tantalizing glimpses of baked redcurrants, cassis, chocolate-covered cherries and mulberries with nuances of crushed rocks, tilled black soil and violets. Full-bodied and sporting layers of tightly wound black fruits and earth-inspired flavors, it has a firm, fine-grained frame and a very long, multifaceted finish. A stunning expression of Dr. Crane!

This is a tart, tangy and tense red from the legendary vineyard, soft and velvety lush on the midpalate. Caramelized oak cradles baked cherry and cranberry, the layers complex and lengthy with seasonings of clove and nutmeg. Enjoy 2021–2030. (Virginie Boone)
