About This Wine
Producer Notes
The 2013 Stonestreet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a pure reflection of our high-elevation vineyard estate, showcasing the wide variety of facings, soils and flora found on its primary ridge. Vibrant aromas of brambly blackberry, black currant, smoky tobacco leaf, and sage dominate, while underneath one finds subtle undertones of white peppercorn and dried cranberry. The palate offers dark, savory flavors of plum compote, black cherry, dried Herbs de Provence, and a touch of vanilla bean, enveloped in fine tannins that extend the wine through a lengthy cocoa-powder laden finish. A library release, direct from the winery.
Critical Acclaim
Made from the producer’s estate Monument Ridge, blocks that rise from 400 to 2,400 feet, this balanced, elegant wine is refined and savory, with classic structure. Crushed rock, mountain sage, pine and dusty tannin support a core of juicy currant and cassis. (Virginie Boone)
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is blended with 1.5% Petit Verdot and matured for 20 months in 35% new oak. It’s bursting with gregarious blackcurrant, blueberry, mint chocolate and lilac plus touches of cigar ash, licorice and coffee beans. The medium-bodied palate is light on its feet despite its deep core of perfumed fruit, with a frame of grainy tannins and juicy acidity that calls you in for another sip. This is wonderfully easy to drink despite offering plenty of complexity. 8,028 cases produced.
Bright purple fruit with lifted notes of bramble berries, violets and bergamot. The palate is full-bodied with chewy tannins, a lush mouthfeel, fine acidity and notes of dark plums, cocoa, sage and red peppercorns. A blend of multiple blocks made up of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon with smaill amounts of petit verdot, merlot and malbec. Drink or hold.
Inky black/purple-hued, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is expressive, leaping from the glass with its packed aromas of wood spices, toasted cedar, preserved blackberries, and resinous tobacco. Full-bodied, it reveals a sanguine, iron-rich mineral profile that’s forward on the palate, with mouthwatering tension, ripe tannins, and good balance on the finish. It’s a very appealing wine that’s starting to drink well now. Drink 2024-2034.
Sage, brush and pencil shavings make for a savory, gravelly experience on the nose and palate of this full-bodied, high-elevation wine. Robustly tannic, it softens in the glass and on the finish in a stream of black pepper and dried herb.
