Darkly floral and smoky up front, the 2018 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Tre Saggi opens further with an attractive mix of black currants and grilled sage. It's silky, even creamy in feel, with opulent, violet-tinged fruits and sweet spices supported by brisk acidity. This finishes lightly structured and leaves a bit of a bitter twang as hints of tobacco and cherry pits fade. There's potential here, and 111 be very interested to see what's possible from Talamonti in better vintages.<br/><br/>
