The 2022 Etna Rosso Moganazzi is dusty, floral and lifted, with an air of confectionery spices and chalk dust that gives way to dried black cherries. This is round and supple, with a lavender-laced blend of red and blue fruits that swirl across a stream of brisk acidity. Grippy tannins come forward through the finale as the 2022 tapers off long and perfumed. A dusting of violet candies punctuates the experience beautifully. (Eric Guido)

The Tenuta delle Terre Nere 2022 Etna Rosso Moganazzi is 100% Nerello Mascalese from a two-hectare vineyard at 700 to 750 meters in elevation on the prized north side of the volcano. It offers big intensity and broad flavors of dark fruit, spice and campfire ash. That spiciness is what sets this mid-weight wine apart. It closes with softly layered fruit tones. Silky and supple, with flavors of ripe black cherry and black plum that waltz across the palate, backed by high-toned accents of wild thyme, espresso bean, white pepper and minerally iron and tar.
