Critical Acclaim
Elegant and perfumed, the 2024 Barbera D'Alba carries a light wild edge that works nicely within the fabric of the wine. Aromas of bright red and black berries, fresh black cherries, wet stones, and fresh earth lead the way. Medium-bodied, it shows lovely tension, with refined focus and clarity on the palate. A touch of reduction suggests it will benefit from a few more months in bottle. Drink 2026-2032.
A deep purple/magenta color, the 2023 Barbera D'Alba offers loads of fresh lavender, fresh blackberries, red plum, and delicate, fresh herbs, and spice. (I love the nose on this vintage.) On the palate, the wine has a fantastically refreshing feel and a clean finish, with a lot of charm and versality. Drink 2024-2030.
Displaying a color closer to the 2024 Barbera than the Dogliani, the 2025 Barbera D'Alba pours a youthful magenta/purple hue. Tasted as a preview, it’s slightly reductive at this stage, offering notes of brambly wild red and purple fruit, fresh spice, and supple resinous earth and herbs. Medium-bodied, it is pure and refreshing, light on its feet, with a nice balance of acidity and juicy fruit. Approximately 17,000 bottles will be produced. 90-92 points.
