Critical Acclaim
The 2022 Zinfandel Turley Estate is composed of three generations of plantings that commenced in 1996. Medium to deep ruby in the glass, it opens with pure, deep, characteristic aromas of grilled yellow peaches, red cherry, redcurrant, lavender, leather and angostura bitters, revealing finer detail as it spends time in the glass. The palate is massively rich, full-bodied and powerful, with a brooding density that melds with grainy tannins and mouthwatering acidity. The finish is layered, dramatic and perfumed, with an overarching youthful density that will take a few years in bottle to unwind. This is a lovely effort that combines modern density with a classically framed structure. (Matthew Luczy)
Refined and polished, with a simmering power beneath the surface, offering expressive flavors of raspberry, garrigue and savory that gather richness toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2034. 1,900 cases made.
Refined and deeply structured, with potent wild berry, roasted sage and white pepper flavors that build richness and tension toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2031. 2,425 cases made. (Tim Fish)
The 2022 Zinfandel Turley Estate is a brooding, earthy wine with good depth and fine persistence. Today the fruit is very much in the background, making this one of the more reticent, inward wines in the range. It will be interesting to see if the fruit emerges more fully over time. 91-93 points. (Antonio Galloni)
Deep ruby, the 2021 Zinfandel Turley Estate opens with rubbery notes that give way to cassis, dried plums and toasted coconut. The full-bodied palate is much more generous than the nose. Super concentrated and ripe, it has a supple mouthfeel and some overt coconut flavors. It seems to unwind as it airs, so give it some time in a decanter, and serve it with grilled meats or ribeye.
