Producer Notes
Uncle Val’s presents a complex and subtly pleasing sensation of flavors. Raise your glass and you’ll notice crisp aromas of sage and juniper. Your first sip will bring out a bright lemon taste, which gives way to a warm, spicy, lavender finish, softened by the coolness cucumber. Each sip bolsters the botanical flavors, along with a continuous presence of piney juniper. Uncle Val’s is a small-batch botanical gin inspired by Zio Valerio’s love of gardening and native tuscan cuisine. The botanicals are not only Uncle Val’s favorite cooking ingredients, but also happen to make an exceptionally unique and smoothly delicious gin
Critical Acclaim
Sweet-tasting and citrusy, this has a light herbal aroma. It shows distinct cucumber and lavender notes on the palate, and it should lend itself to spring and summer cocktails. Keep an eye out for exciting savory and spicy variations of Uncle Val’s that may be coming to market soon.
Clear and clean as rainwater. After the initial sniffs after the pour I can't help but think of one thing, "Hendricks Gin", as Uncle Val's Restorative does a close, if not identical job of emulation and that's due primarily to two (apparent) ingredient botanicals, cucumber and rose petal, that are both in evidence early on; after further aeration, the juniper aspect gets itself together and shines through beacon like in the latter stages of the bouquet. Entry is really yummy, in that, the juniper-cucumber-rose petal troika gets amiable support from deeply herbaceous coriander while the alcohol base turns velvety smooth and viscous; midpalate is damn near unctuous and oily as the flavor profile goes for broke. Finishes long, luxuriously cream, and a little hot, but acceptably so. This style can only be categorized as Floral. I prefer this edition to the citrusy Botanical Gin sibling.
