About This Wine

Producer Notes

The 2019 Vermillion sings with aromas of wild strawberry, licorice, blood orange, Earl Grey tea, black raspberry, cinnamon stick, spice box, pot pourri, rose oil. The gorgeous, silky entry opens to layers of berries, dried flower, baking spices, and terra cotta underpinned by fine tannins and a long, sweet and savory finish.

Critical Acclaim

VN 92 Vinous 2021 vintage

The 2021 Vermillion is packed with dark cherry, plum, spice and licorice. The 2021 is a blend from vineyards in the Sierra Foothills, Santa Barbara, and Paso Robles, with the Paso fruit very much pushed forward. Black fruit, mocha, spice and licorice give this juicy blend tons of character. The 2021 is not exactly subtle, but it sure is a delicious bottle of wine.

Blend: 60% Grenache, 23% Syrah, 15% Petite Sirah, 1% Mourvedre, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon

JD 91 Jeb Dunnuck 2019 vintage 2/4/2023

A kitchen sink blend (I think it’s mostly Grenache) that’s 80% from the Sierra Foothills and the rest from Sonoma and Napa, the ruby-hued 2019 Vermillion is a fruit-forward, incredibly charming, satisfying red offering medium-bodied aromas and flavors of spiced red fruits, sandalwood, and white and black pepper. It’s beautifully balanced, has fine tannins, no hard edges, and a clean, dry finish that keeps you coming back to the glass. It’s already hard to resist, and I see no need to delay gratification either, although it should have 4–5 years of prime drinking. (Jeb Dunnuck)
