Named after the caviar from Ossetra, the 2018 Ozyetra is a selection of the best barrels of the Forster Pechstein (don’t ask me why Attmann started this with the 2017 vintage except for hedonistic and monetary reasons) that ages on the lees for two years. The nose is excitingly clear and flinty as well as intense, deep and precise, with proud greetings to Meursault. Full-bodied, intense and juicy on the palate, this is a highly refined, vital and mineral Pechstein with great purity and notes of Mediterranean herbs on the enormously salty and sustainable finish. This is a spectacular Pechstein undercover and possibly even better than the once legendary 2010 Pechstein GG. Tasted as a barrel sample in May 2020. To be released in late autumn this year.
