Critical Acclaim

WE 92 Wine Enthusiast NV vintage

After the usual aging time, this Bourbon is then moved to a heavily-toasted, lightly-charred barrel to extract additional oak flavor. The end result is deep amber in the glass, with bright spice cake and baked apple fragrance. On the palate, it’s lightly sweet at first, showing creamy caramel, but finishes dry, with touches of espresso, oak and Baker’s chocolate. Overall, a bold, flavorful sipper.

OT 88 Whisky Advocate NV vintage

Woodford’s first permanent line extension. Aged in two barrels with different toast and char amounts. More visceral than the standard Woodford Reserve, with a darker personality, extra wood spice, and a nice sweet foundation. Notes of cinnamon stick, dark berried fruit, roasted nuts, caramel, creamy vanilla, and polished leather.

F. Paul Pacult’s Spirit Journal NV vintage

Beautifully rich chestnut brown color; impeccable purity. Wow, there's so much happening here in the initial inhalations that it's hard to record everything - I detect lush aromas of toasted marshmallow, dark caramel, chocolate candy bar and nougat; after another seven minutes in the glass, scents of vinyl, beeswax, lanolin, dried red fruits (prunes) and cake frosting emerge subtly and gracefully. Entry is coca rich, woody/oaky, vanilla like and cake like; midpalate is long, oily/viscous, with a controlled sweetness that isn't cloying in the least, just confectioner sweet and luscious. Aftertaste is extended, luxurious, candy like and fat/buttery. This is a big hearted whiskey with lots going for it. Loved it.
