Critical Acclaim
Very aromatic, pushing out aromas of dried red and black fruit, including dried blueberries and dates, together with a nice, spicy layer of nutmeg and pressed flowers. Full-bodied with an amazingly harmonious texture to the palate, thanks to the dense, very fine tannins that also provide super length. There’s a bright, saline mineral note that kicks in and pushes the finish even further. Exquisite Amarone. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico opens with an herbal thrust that gives way to dried violets, lavender and crushed blackberries. It is sleek and racy in feel with lifted textures and tart wild berry fruits offset by zesty acidity. It tapers off long and staining, lifted by a bump of residual acidity as notes of red plum leave a pleasantly tart sensation. I quite like the energy here and expect that the 2018 will enjoy a broad and open drinking window. (Eric Guido)
A suave red, with its lush texture carrying finely knit flavors of plumped cherry and baked raspberry. Offers accents of loamy earth, singed orange peel, medicinal herbs and rose hip. Long and fluid, with good tension through the well-spiced, lasting finish. Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina. Drink now through 2039. 12,500 cases made, 2,450 cases imported.

A harmonious version, round and medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins enmeshed with a fragrant mix of steeped cherry and strawberry, tea rose and tea leaf, mineral and spice flavors. Juicy finish. Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina. Drink now through 2028. 12,500 cases made, 2,450 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
Dark plums mingle with fresh-ground coffee and dustings of cocoa, while delicate sheets of nori hover in the background, waiting to wrap these rich flavors in a subtle umami embrace. The palate mirrors this muscular expression with bold, direct strokes ,an Amarone that speaks its truth with conviction rather than whispers.
