About This Wine

Tasting Notes

Deep garnet with brick highlights. Intensely complex aromatics of dried black cherries, pressed violets, cedar, cardamom, leather, and dark cocoa. Full-bodied, ethereal, and seamless on the palate, offering concentrated flavors of dried red berries, plum preserve, exotic spices, and crushed mineral undertones. Supported by fine, structural tannins and vibrant acidity that keep its formidable alcohol perfectly balanced through a remarkably long, savory, and floral finish.

Producer Notes

Located in the hills of Negrar in the Valpolicella Classico zone, the legendary estate founded by Giuseppe Quintarelli is widely regarded as the ultimate benchmark for traditional Amarone. Without a commercial website or flashy marketing, the family-run winery continues to operate with uncompromising patience and artisanal precision—harvesting grapes by hand, slowly drying them on wooden mats (appassimento), and aging the wines for seven years in large Slavonian oak barrels to achieve extraordinary depth, balance, and longevity.

Critical Acclaim

VN 97 Vinous 2018 vintage Sep 2025

The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico slowly evolves with a whimsical mix of dusty dried violets, cedar box, cardamom, stone dust and dried black cherries. It displays textures of pure silk, lifted and feminine in nature, as bright red berry fruits wash across the palate, leaving a tactile staining of minerals and sweet tannins. The 2018 shows incredible length and poise, leaving blue and purple inner florals over notes of licorice and clove through the lightly structured and completely harmonious finale. Bury this radiant beauty deep in the cellar.
